Growing up in Southern California, I’ve been around cactus and succulents my whole life. My dad had a cactus garden when I was little, and now their going to rip out all the grass in the front lawn and xeriscape it with California native plants. It’s serious people. So it’s no wonder that when the succulent wedding trend came around, I wanted to be part of it.

I’m a “no-frills” type of girl. I’ve always known I wasn’t going to get married in a church, or in a big bedazzled ball gown. It’s just not my style, and thankfully, it’s not M’s either. We’re down to earth people, and we want our big day to reflect that.

Our contemporary Southern California wedding is going to feature lots of succulents and big bright blooms, natural textures like wood and brick, and sparkly gold accents all on a warm summer’s night. You know, something like this:

Sparkly gold headband instead of a veil, don’t you think? // I love the cascading succulents on this cake // Soft LA skyline in the background // Love the vertical garden for the ceremony // Bright pink blooms for the bouquet, with the succulents of course // Long table centerpieces for long wooden tables // Absolutely adore this dress for my bridesmaids // Great typography, bold graphics and bright colors for all the paper goods // Love this casual look for the guys // Easy tera cotta DIY idea
